Agritourism Conference

A conference for farmers and entrepreneurs interested in agritourism will be held Jan. 17-18 at Paris Landing State Park, Buchanan, TN.

“2008 Agritourism: Cultivating Farm Revenue” will feature several sessions where participants will hear from experienced entrepreneurs about their operations and lessons they've learned about the agritourism business, says Megan Bruch, Extension marketing specialist with University of Tennessee, Knoxville. “Other sessions will educate participants on incorporating retail into their operations, ideas for activities to educate and entertain on the farm, marketing, signage programs, sales tax issues and more.”

A trade show will host products and services of interest to agritourism operators, and participants can share information about their own enterprises by bringing photos or marketing materials to display in a special exhibit, “Agritourism In Action: Show Your Stuff.”

Registration and more information is available online at the center for Profitable Agriculture's Web site, http://cpa.utk.edu, or at Pick Tennessee Products' Web site at www.picktnproducts.org. Registration is $75 before Jan. 5. After that date, registration is $125.
