Agribusiness Forms Biofuels Lobbying Group

Oct 1, 2008 12:00 PM, COMPILED BY GREG LAMP

Monsanto, Archer Daniels Midland, John Deere, DuPont and the Renewable Fuels Association formed a new biofuels lobbying group called the Alliance for Abundant Food and Energy. The Alliance is designed to promote the understanding that through innovation, agriculture can sustainably meet the growing global demand for food and renewable forms of energy.

The Alliance takes the perspective that food and fuel is not an “either/or” decision, but that innovation in agriculture will make sure there is an abundance of both.

The Alliance points out that over the last decade, the world's population grew 13%, while farmers were able to meet increased needs using only 6% more land.
