COMBINE SALES UP 10%

Ag equipment manufacturers predict a modest increase in U.S. retail sales of farm tractors and a gain of nearly 10% in combine sales in 2004, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

Sales are predicted to expand in most product categories. Total U.S. sales of farm wheel tractors are expected to gain 3% in 2004, led by a 6.8% increase in sales of 4-wheel-drive units.

In addition, sales of chisel plows are expected to grow 5% in 2004 and 5.7% in 2005. Planter sales should be up 5.9% in 2004 and 2.1% in 2005.
