Speak Up About Sustainability

Technology helps farmers do more with less everyday, says grower Mike Geske. He and his son farm 2,100 acres of corn, cotton, rice, soybeans in Matthews, MO. As grower and director of the Corn Board of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), and liaison to the National Cattleman's Beef Association, he fears that the word sustainability may be redefined in a way that impedes farming by restricting technology use. Be sure to reserve a place at the table for growers as sustainability is defined and laws written, says Geske, chairman of the NCGA Public Policy Action Team and vice chairman of the NCGA Biotechnology Working Group.
