Corn Planting Progresses to 3% By April 2, 2012

 

The April 2, 2012 USDA Crop Progress report has put overall corn planting progress at 3% complete. Texas has 48% of their crop in, followed by Tennessee with 15% planted and North Carolina with 10% of their corn in the ground. Ohio, Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois all have planted some corn, as well.

Last year there were only four states with corn in the ground at this point, and the overall progress was 2%, compared with 10 states planting corn and a 3% completion this year. The five-year average is 2%.
