Eight-Gene-Stacked Corn

Oct 1, 2007 12:00 PM

SmartStax is a newly announced eight-gene-stacked combination in corn. Scheduled for release in 2010, the technology combines Dow AgroSciences' and Monsanto's insect protection and weed control trait technologies.

They will cross-license germplasm including Dow AgroSciences' Herculex® I and Herculex RW technologies; Monsanto's YieldGard VT Rootworm/RR2 and YieldGard VT Pro technologies; and Roundup Ready® and LibertyLink® weed control systems.

Monsanto and Dow Agrosciences have requested reduced refuge requirements from the EPA for SmartStax.
