Scouting, Digging for Corn Rootworm Damage


CSD Editor Kurt Lawton attended a root dig to look for corn rootworm damage. He talked to Jeff Housman, district agronomist, Mycogen. Housman advises farmers to get out and walk corn fields to scout for corn rootworm damage. He says to start digging roots and evaluate them for corn rootworm pressure.

Housman also talked about management strategies, including: crop rotation, mode of action rotation and refuge compliance. "Management strategies are key," he says.
