What’s new for soybeans?
There are new herbicides available for soybeans, too.
Authority Assist is a new premix product for soybeans. Using multiple modes of action, it provides control of glyphosate-resistant summer weeds including waterhemp, lambsquarters, nightshade, kochia and many other broadleaves. It also offers suppression of problem grasses like foxtails, fall panicum and nutsedges.
With a 4-lb./gal. SC formulation, Authority Assist has proven effective in no-till, conservation-tillage and conventional-tillage systems using preplant surface, pre-emerge or preplant incorporated applications. It also has some foliar activity to provide burndown on emerged weeds.
Flexstar GT is a postemergence herbicide for soybeans to control the same annual weeds as glyphosate as well as several glyphosate- and ALS-resistant broadleaf weeds including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp and ragweed. It uses an adjuvant system combining glyphosate and fomesfen in a premix formulation.
Flexstar GT isn’t available in all states, so be sure to check with your local Extension service before buying or using the product.
Warrant herbicide is available from Monsanto as an encapsulated acetochlor-based postemergent herbicide for use on soybeans. It offers control of pigweed, nightshade, common lambsquarters, waterhemp and other small-seeded broadleaf weeds, as well as grasses. Warrant is a water-based formulation and can be tankmixed with Roundup.
