EMD Crop BioScience introduces new foliar-applied LCO Promoter Technology for corn and soybeans

EMD Crop BioScience is introducing Ratchet™ for the 2011 growing season, providing corn and soybean growers with an easy-to-use foliar product that taps into the breakthrough performance advantages of LCO (Lipo-chitooligosaccharide) Promoter Technology.

Milwaukee, WI – EMD Crop BioScience is introducing Ratchet™ for the 2011 growing season, providing corn and soybean growers with an easy-to-use foliar product that taps into the breakthrough performance advantages of LCO (Lipo-chitooligosaccharide) Promoter Technology.

“Ratchet is a foliar-applied product that enhances photosynthesis and plant growth, and helps ensure that corn and soybean crops realize their full performance potential,” says Cathy Soanes, Ratchet product manager for EMD Crop BioScience. “Ratchet is formulated for ease of use. The product is compatible with the growers’ post-emergent applications, including glyphosate herbicides, so they can capture the benefits of LCO Promoter Technology with no additional passes over their fields.”

When applied to the foliar surface of a corn or soybean plant, the patented LCO signal molecule provides an increase in photosynthesis and sugar production, which enhances plant growth and improves overall crop performance. The results are evident in field trials conducted over the past three growing seasons. In trials from 2008 through 2010, Ratchet delivered an average yield boost of 4 to 5 bushels per acre in corn and 1 to 2 bushels per acre in soybeans.

Four years ago Kip Cullers, the three-time world-record soybean champion from Purdy Missouri, began testing Ratchet on his research acres. The results he saw were so impressive he started using Ratchet on all his production acres.
