Sep 1, 2007 12:00 PM, Compiled By Jen Bennett

Internet access on farms continues to increase and improve, USDA reports. Gains in high-speed access were noted versus its last survey in 2005.

High-speed Internet access methods, including DSL, cable, satellite and wireless, have become much more available to farm Internet users since 2005. The portion of operators using DSL doubled to 27% in 2007.

For crop farms, 64% have computer access, and 37% use a computer for their farm business in 2007 — up 4% and 3% from 2005, respectively. Internet access for crop farms has increased to 56% in 2007, compared to 52% in 2005.
