Ethanol Pipeline Study Launched

Constructing major ethanol pipelines between the Midwest and both coasts would likely take 10 years. Senators Lugar (R-IN) and Harkin (D-IA) have introduced a bill to study dedicated pipelines' feasibility. Brazil's state-run oil company, Petrobas, has agreed to share what it's learned about ethanol transport in pipelines.

Petrobas is building a pipeline between central Brazil and the coast to move ethanol for export to Japan, the company announced.
