Farm Bill Spending

Federal spending would increase for commodity and conservation programs under both the Senate and House farm bills now in conference committee. That's according to the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute, which presented the comparison to Congressional ag committees early in March.

The Senate bill would increase spending by $63.5 billion compared to $59.8 billion in the House version. Both numbers are comparisons with projected spending under the current Farm Bill for the next 10 years.
