Grant Awarded For National Ag Technology Center

A new national center is being established at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids through a $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The unique educational effort has been named "AgKnowledge: The National Center for Agriscience Technology Education."

A core effort of the new agriculture technology center will be to identify crucial educational needs of students preparing to enter advanced technological careers in agriculture. Kirkwood has formed a partnership network of 18 community college teams and their university and secondary school partners throughout the U.S. These teams will develop new courses and methods of teaching and integrating new technologies in high school and college classrooms. Efforts will focus on agribusiness, production, advanced agriculture technologies and related service fields.
