National System Could Help Seed Exports

A new system that could make it easier for American seed companies to export more than $1 billion worth of products has been authorized by USDA.

Iowa State University (ISU) will administer the program, called the National Seed Health System. Its goals: standardize seed health testing and field inspections nationwide and expand testing responsibilities to commercial labs.

Under the new system, ISU will work with the American Seed Trade Association and USDA on resolving international trade conflicts.
