The Hagny HCS furrow closing system from Exapta Solutions, Salina, KS, is designed specifically for no-till.
Spoke tips shear completely through the midline of the furrow, shattering the sidewall for better crown root development. The furrow is covered with loose material and seed placement is not disrupted.
On planters, the Hagny system replaces the original closing wheel frame with a new mounting block and two independent arms for staggered spoke wheels. It must be used with a seed firmer or seed-lock wheel for firming the soil.
The unit is available for most planters and for gauge-wheel drills JD 750/1850, 1560/1860 and Flexicoil FSO.
