Novartis Seeks To Reregister Bt Hybrids

Novartis Seeds is working with the EPA to reregister its NK Brand YieldGard/LibertyLink hybrids.

EPA reregistration is part of a planned safety and ecological data review of all Bt corn lines currently sold in the U.S.

The YieldGard/LibertyLink line accounted for roughly 75% of Novartis' 2000 Bt corn sales. The company elected not to pursue reregistration of the line's predecessor, the KnockOut line, though it can continue to sell these hybrids until July 2003.
