Pioneer Tests New Corn Process

Pioneer Hi-Bred International is developing technology that will converts corn into usable energy.

As part of a joint effort with Iowa State University, the company is researching and testing a process to convert unsold or discarded seed corn into gas, which can then be burned to produce heat.

The small amount of ash that is produced as part of the process is high in nutrients and can used for fertilizer to produce future seed.
