Eating less is only one part of the new diet reform effort. The other is eating healthier.
Toward that end, BTG, a company that finds new commercial uses for technology, announced plans to commercialize a new method for boosting soy content in baked foods, chips, cookies and other dough-base foods. The effort was announced jointly with Cohen Marketing Services, the company that developed the process.
BTG says soy provides numerous health benefits. Among other things it can lower LDL (the harmful form of cholesterol) and decrease blood clotting. These benefits help reduce the incidence of heart attack and strokes. Soy also helps the body retain and better absorb calcium in bones. This helps prevent osteoporosis.
