RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, September 21, 2010 – BASF Crop Protection will launch its fourth installment in the 2010 Top Plots series, featuring high-yield and award-winning grower David Roehm from Leesburg, Ohio.
The latest Top Plots video, available at www.youtube.com/user/BASFAgproducts, highlights the tools and tips corn and soybean growers can use to get the most out of every acre.
In the video, Roehm shares the history of his fourth-generation farming family, which has been operating a sustainable farm in Ohio since 1930. Roehm has been running a no-till operation on more than 95 percent of his acres since the early 1980s. In recent years, he’s turned to GPS technology, new machinery and residual herbicides to increase his yield and maximize his fertility during growing seasons.
The winner of the 2009 Secure Optimal Yield (SOY) Challenge, sponsored by the American Soybean Association and BASF Crop Protection, Roehm used Scepter® 70 DG herbicide and Headline® fungicide to achieve a four-bushel yield increase. According to Roehm, the products “gave us a significant return on investment.”
Throughout the 2010 growing season, the BASF Crop Protection Top Plots series will feature four Midwestern corn and soybean growers sharing their crop management stories. The Top Plots series is available at www.youtube.com/user/BASFAgproducts.
Viewers of the videos can expect to learn more about planting techniques, tilling and seed decisions, the benefit of seed treatments, herbicide and fungicide recommendations, mid-season challenges, disease management, harvesting techniques and yield results.
