AUTO BOOM-SECTION CONTROL
TeeJet's BoomPilot is an automatic boom-section control for sprayers and spreader equipment to minimize costly chemical consumption.
The BoomPilot records the GPS location and the location of applied areas in your field. When a section of the sprayer boom overlaps one of the applied areas, BoomPilot automatically switches that boom section off. When the boom crosses back into an unapplied area, it automatically turns on.
BoomPilot offers automatic boom shut-off with the capability to control up to 15 boom sections, independent of one another. The product is an add-on device to existing GPS guidance systems or receivers, and can be used in conjunction with most third-party rate controls.

Raven Industries has released Raven Cruizer, a compact 3-D guidance system.
Priced at just under $1,700, Cruizer offers a built-in 10Hz DGPS receiver that provides accurate sub-meter guidance during tillage, spraying, harvesting and other operations. The unit comes packaged with a RAM Mount mounting bracket, power cable with adapter plug for in-cab power and an external DGPS antenna. It's easily removed for use in other equipment.
Cruizer features a 5.7-in. color touch screen with easy-to-understand menus and status indicators. A high-resolution display provides swath guidance and coverage area information using aerial and downfield 3-D perspectives.
Also included is Cruizer's Last Pass guidance, a system that guides the operator to one-swath width from any previously applied area. The operator can easily switch on the go between straight line and Last Pass guidance patterns.
Raven Cruizer is fully compatible with Raven's SmarTrax and QuickTrax systems and can be used with Raven's tilt module for sloping terrain areas.
Farm Works 2008 includes support for tankmixes, a buffer tool for calculating setbacks or refuge areas and a new invoicing tool that fully integrates with the field records.
The 2008 version also includes mapping improvements: post calibration of yield data, expanded map printing options and support for reading and writing the latest John Deere GreenStar 2, Case/New Holland Voyager 2, Raven, AgLeader and other formats.
Field solutions (Farm Site Mate) highlights include 3-D mapping and boom section logging. The 3-D mapping feature displays background maps such as field boundaries, soil type/zone and point maps. The guidance software (Guide Mate) added 3-D guidance and additional guidance patterns, including last pass and pivot. The field solutions will install on any mobile computer with Windows CE, Windows Mobile or Windows 98 or higher.
