The 9620 and 9620T tractors — the largest built by John Deere — are four-wheel drive and large-track machines rated at 500 engine hp. They are powered by 12.5 liter JD PowerTech engines that meet Tier II EPA emission levels. The engines offer a 7% power bulge at 1,900 rpm and a 38% torque rise at 1,600 rpm.
The 9620 comes standard with the 18-speed PowerShift transmission with Automatic PowerShift (APS). With APS, the transmission automatically shifts up or down, based on tractor load, to maximize the tractor's pulling performance.
The 9620T track tractor has a rear axle with inboard steering planetaries and five-pinion outboard final drive planetaries for strength and reliability. The rear axle is pressure-lubricated and cooled with the transmission hydraulic system.
