Soybeans On Allergen Bill

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee recently approved a compromise food allergen labeling bill. The bill would impose mandatory labeling standards for eight major foods that cause 90% of allergic reactions — milk, eggs, fish, crustacea, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts and soybeans. The mandatory labeling would be effective Jan. 1, 2006.
