MORE ACRES IN ARGENTINA
Nov 1, 2005 12:00 PM, Compiled By Greg Lamp
Argentina's 2005-06 soybean plantings are expected to rise 6.3% from last year to a record 15.6 million hectares (38.5 million acres) due to a shift away from wheat, corn and sorghum, according to a Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecast.
Higher plantings may mean another record Argentine crop, although yields are expected to be down from last year's high levels. USDA's current Argentine crop estimate of 39 million tons is based on plantings of 14.9 million hectares.
