MINNETONKA, Minn., USA, Oct. 23, 2013 – Syngenta Seeds, Inc. President David Morgan has joined the board of The Mama Ada Foundation. The organization, located in Hopkins, Minn., creates education and entrepreneurship opportunities and provides seed and tuition funds for people living in the Rift Valley Province in Kenya.
Based in Minnetonka, Minn., Morgan has spent his entire career in agriculture. Morgan’s primary focus is on leading the Syngenta team in their creation of crop- and customer-focused strategies, and the development of innovative technology solutions for North American farmers.
“The Mama Ada Foundation is instrumental in helping farmers and students in the Rift Valley Province work toward self-sufficiency,” Morgan said. “Syngenta is committed to sustainable agriculture and improving the quality of life. The Mama Ada Foundation is directly linked to both. Through this partnership, Syngenta is able to play a significant role in meeting the needs of this Kenyan community.”
Syngenta first announced a partnership with The Mama Ada Foundation during 2012, responding to a need for funding to provide seed to local farmers.
“Our friendship with Syngenta helps us enhance the people of the province’s way of life and leads them one step closer to self-sufficiency,” said Jim Cook, Chairman of the Board of The Mama Ada Foundation. “We welcome David to our board, and are grateful to him and to Syngenta for their continuing commitment to our mission.”
The Mama Ada Foundation works with local church committees in Kenya to identify people with needs in their communities. Its mission is to stimulate economic development. In this way, its work is truly rooted in the needs and ideas of the Kenyan people.
“Thanks to our collaboration with Syngenta, more families in the Rift Valley Province in Kenya now have a better chance at eliminating hunger and reducing poverty,” added Julie Keller, President of The Mama Ada Foundation.
