Zeneca Buys Biotech Firms

Zeneca Agrochemicals has exercised an option to buy a 20% equity interest in ExSeed Genetics.

That move, plus the acquisition of Mogen International, is part of Zeneca's strategy to further expand into the field of biotechnology.

"ExSeed Genetics is working on several innovative approaches to improve grain quality," says Bob Woods, president of Zeneca Ag Products in North America.

"This investment represents another step in our strategy to expand our position in agricultural biotechnology and complements Zeneca's recent acquisition of Mogen International."

Mogen is among the world's leading biotech companies.
