Fast-Track Could Expire

Trade promotion authority (TPA), or fast-track authority, expires this summer. The Bush administration will need to request an extension by March 1 and TPA renews automatically unless one house of Congress rejects it, according to Doane's Agricultural Report.

There is little chance TPA will be rescinded this year, but the request will give Congress a chance to air its opposition to the direction of free trade and multi-lateral trade talks.
