Do you have an iPad? Do you have rootworms in your field? If your answer was yes (or even just yes to an iPad), you should check out a new app from Monsanto that helps farmers assess rootworm risk.
The Genuity Rootworm Manager mobile app is free allows farmers to do a field-by-field assessment that considers several important factors to determine the threat from corn rootworm to the crop.
The app starts by asking about planting history, then your plans for planting this year. It also asks about larval and adult management, as well as plans for next season.
Each screen lets the user input specific information about pressure, insecticides used and other assessment details. There are also options to learn more about management practices, scouting and insecticide options for the type of pressure in your field.
Users can add notes, email reports, set reminders to recheck risk and access additional resources right from the app.
Overall, the app seems easy to use and offers a lot of information. It takes minimal time to input your answers to questions, which is time well spent when managing a pest that can be such a big problem. Check out this app for rootworm management and let me know what you think. Leave a comment or send me an email.
