Rotating Lowers SCN Counts In China

Chinese researchers have found that rotating soybeans with non-host crops in soybean cyst nematode-infested fields is, at this point, the country's most important SCN control measure.

So far, seven SCN races (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 14) have been identified in 14 provinces of the country. Several resistant and tolerant yellow-seeded varieties have been released. In addition, Shenyang Agricultural University researchers have identified at least 10 black-seeded varieties that are resistant to races 1, 3, 4 and 5.

Some biological control agents have been released and are being investigated.
