Tips From The Conservation Tillage Conference

Here are a few snippets of information he’s passed along so far:

• In well-drained soils, pull the trigger and try no-till soybeans, says Iowa State University’s Joel DeJong.
• Gary Wagner, a Minnesota farmer, says the five most important yield factors are: 1. Drainage; 2. Seed variety; 3. Insect/weeds; 4. Plant pop; 5. Tillage.
• A little tire slip is a good thing because it transfers power to the ground. 8-12% slip on a 4WD is about right, says Reed Turner of Ag Tech.
